Media and Body Image with Karen Dill Shackelford

Dr. Karen Dill-Shackleford discusses a series of studies that she and colleague Dr. Ellen Albertson conducted, focusing on how the media shapes women’s body image and on the psychological effects of negative body image. She goes on to speak about another study measuring the effect of meditation on body image, and how significant the findings were: women who meditated experienced much greater self-acceptance. Dr. Karen Dill-Shackleford (formerly Karen E. Dill) works in the fields of Media and Social Psychology, and is a professor on staff in the Media Psychology Department at Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, CA.
